Kingfisher Airlines has received, in recent years, consecutive global awards from the SKYTRAX World Airline Awards committee. However today on this remarkable date of 12.12.12 seven of its aircraft were seized by Mumbai international airport. Payments of around 6 Million pounds sterling in total are owed. All aircraft operated by Kingfisher have been grounded since October 1st 2012. There are huge problems in the Airline industry which recently saw another major airline the Scandinavian SAS also escape bankruptcy by the skin of its teeth.
We have to ask ourselves whether the business model related to this industry is broken. There is a long list of collapsed Airlines and we have all but exhausted the capacity of many Airports! Where is this all headed?
As business travelers we look forward to any comments that could add to our understanding of the problems.
